The launch of “Design Stories” which took place on Thursday, April 4th at the Culture Box in Templebar. Design Stories” is a new exhibition, running from April 4th to 25th, showcasing the work of nine talented Dublin-based artists and designers.

IKA – Running to give “The Gift Of Life”

Taking part in the Irish Kidney Association’s ‘Run for a Life’ at the weekend were RTE husband and wife duo Vivienne Traynor, a living kidney donor and her husband Justin Treacy with their family, Holly (16), Oscar (1) and Alison (5).  Three years ago Vivienne donated a kidney to her nephew Martin and just a year ago gave birth to baby Oscar and he celebrated his birthday on Sunday. The Fun Run which celebrates life and promotes organ donation is sponsored by pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma Co. Irish Times Tues Oct 16th 2012

 

Dublin Simon Community “Scrappy But Happy Too” Launch

Scrappy But Happy Too! is the second collection of creative writing and artwork by people using Simon services. As well as short fiction, poetry and personal stories the book contains a wide variety of visual media featuring everything from painting and sketches to photography and decoupage. The book was launched by Siobhan McKenna, award-winning author of The Other Woman and The Lingerie Designer.

Big wins at Transplant Games for Irish heroes

IRISH athletes have netted 50 medals — including 14 golds — at the European Transplant and Dialysis Games in Croatia. The 26-strong team was met with a rapturous welcome on Saturday night by family, friends and supporters, days before the London Paralympics begin. ”The Irish team kept its cool to pull off some great performances,” team manager Colin White.
